Headlight / Gang Hoax Flashing Headlight / Gang Hoax Don’t flash your lights at anyone…. A police officer that works with the DARE program is passing this warning to various companies in the area. If you’re ever driving after dark and see an on coming car with no headlights turned on, DO NOT flash your lights at them! This is a common gang member “initiation game” that goes like this: – The new gang member under initiation drives along with no headlights and the first car to flash their headlights at him is now his “target”. – He is now required to turn around and chase that car and shoot at or into the car in order to complete his initiation requirements. Make sure you share this information with all the drivers in your family!! Pass on this information to your staff. Like many hoaxes, this one sounds plausible.

I know for a fact that this works so if you ever get in this situation, you have an out This procedure works in any state. Read it and try it, you have nothing to loose but the points in your license.

If u get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever the case may be, and you are going to get points on your license, then there is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get any points.
When u get your fine, send in the check to pay for it and if the fine is say $79, then make the check out for $82 or some small amount above the fine. The system will then have to send you back a check for the difference, but here is the trick! —DO NOT CASH THE CHECK!! Throw it away! Points are not assessed to your license until all the financial transactions are complete. If you do not cash the check, then the transactions are not complete. However the system has gotten its money so it is happy and will not bother you any more.

Memphis.98.MMS Virus Hoax As you know, the world of computers is becoming more complex every minute with new technologies arising all of the time. Unfortunately, some of this technology can be used against us. According to McAfee Associates and Symantec officials, there has been a new virus that has been discovered. According to them, the current virus detection and removal software that they sell CANNOT detect this virus on systems running Windows 98. This is due to Windows 98’s new memory management system features. According to McAfee Associates, this virus was written in the Assembly language, and loads itself in to the system’s upper memory. Because of a flaw in the Windows 98 Memory Management System, MMS, this virus can load itself into a part of the upper memory block which cannot be accessed or scanned by either McAfee ViruScan, or Symantec’s Norton Anti-Virus. Other virus protection utilities have not reported such errors, and have not been tested either. Microsoft is aware of this error and is currently working on a patch. Unfortunately, users with Windows 98 already installed have no choice but to continue running the OS and can only hope that this virus does not attack their system. It is believed that a person with access to Microsoft’s source code may have written this virus, or leaked out the source code to somebody else, who wrote the virus. The characteristics of the Memphis.98.MMS are not full known, but certain characteristics are. OS: Windows 98 (4.10.1998) Memory Resistant: Yes Polymorphic: Yes Repairable: No Encrypted: No Infects: Floppy\Boot records All EXE files that are ran while virus is in memory Origin: Unknown Virus Size: Unknown Actions: The Memphis.98.MMS virus performs several actions while active, including: Slow disk I/O, spontaneous rebooting and monitor “flickering”. Also, you may receive a Windows error which says: “Error in MMS. Please reboot and retry. If this error continues to occur, please contact Micros0ft, and report the Memphis.98.M MS error. Thank you, and enjoy Windows98.” Extras: You may notice the zero, 0, instead of an o in Micros0ft, which indicates that this is a malicious program. The origin of the virus is unknown, but is believed to be written in the western United States, because that was where the first bunch of virus activity were reported. One of the most mysterious characteristics of this virus is that it does not affect any Microsoft applications, such as MS Visual C++, VB, J++, Office97, Flight Sim, Frontpage97, Internet Explorer, and any other Microsoft product. all of us to save a little girl that’s dying of a serious and
fatal form of cancer.
Ahhh…but it *is* a chain letter. the fact the the hoax next asks:
Please send this to everyone you know…or don’t know at that.
this “send this to everyone” is the classic sign of a hoax and makes this chain letter (contrary to prior claim).
This little girl has 6 months left to live, and as her dying
wish, she wanted to send a chain letter telling everyone to live
their life to the fullest, since she never will. She’ll never
make it to prom, graduate from high school, or get married and
have a family of her own. But by you sending this to as many
people as possible, you can give her and her family a little
hope, because with every name that this is sent to, the American
cancer society will donate 3 cents per name to her treatment and
recovery plan. One guy sent this to 500 people !!!! So, I know
that we can send it to at least 5 or 6. Come on you guys…. And
if you’re too damn selfish to waste 10-15 minutes scrolling this
and forwarding it to EVERYONE, (more than one person): you’re one
sick puppy, and two: just think it could be you one day….and
it’s not even your $money$, just your time. I know that ya’ll

With the “hahahaha” and the “SCREW YOU!!!!” text, I would not have expected people to respond to this hoax but we have received copies of this that indicate quite a large number of people have followed the instructions in the hoax. Just as people continue to respond to paper mail chain letters, they seem gullible enough to respond to this hoax. Fortunately, this hoax doesn’t make supernatural claims (“bad luck”) but simply makes claims that are impossible (being infected by a non-existent virus if you don’t forward the hoax) so there’s no reason to even think about complying this chain letter email hoax. r>

The “Win a Holiday” Hoax! VIRUS WARNING !!!!!! If you receive an email titled “WIN A HOLIDAY” DO NOT open it. Typical signs of a hoax here: It will erase everything on your hard drive. Forward this letter out to as many people as you can. and above we see the other classic hoax indication (to forward the hoax to as many people as you can. This is a new, very malicious virus and not many people know about it. This information was announced yesterday morning from Microsoft; A “new” virus would be no big deal. We see over 250 new viruses each month. MicroSoft is not in the business of announcing viruses. please share it with everyone that might access the internet. Once again, pass this along to EVERYONE in our address book so that this may be stopped. Also, do not open or even look at any mail that says “RETURNED OR UNABLE TO DELIVER” The “RETURNED OR UNABLE TO DELIVER” is copied from other hoaxes that we have covered here and it is intended to make people think they have seen the supposed virus message because almost everyone that sends much email will occasionally get a “RETURNED OR UNABLE TO DELIVER” when there is a problem delivering a message. (This should be no cause for alarm!) This virus will attach itself to your computer components and render them useless. Immediately delete any mail items that say this. AOL has said that this is a very dangerous virus and that there is NO remedy this to all your online friends ASAP. Ahhh, another appeal to authority (AOL) and, of course, unverifiable. And we are expected to believe that AOL is an authority on viruses?! And we see yet another exhortation to send this hoax to all our friends.
