For some time running on Internet fake appeals, chain letters, jokes in bad taste, though in most cases not directly harm the users’ PCs, certainly affect their good faith by making appeals or lose credibility to real news series. E ‘induced damage, but damage. Hoax.it is the compass to orientate between true and false appeals and a place to report back that will be verified with the benefit of all.
I would add that:

Hoax is not a term easily translatable into Italian, translate Hoax many as Buffalo, but in practice it would be wrong to translate hoax differently depending on what we are referring therefore use the word joke, joke, fake e-mail joke in bad taste, tragic deception, false calls, mail containing viruses fake, or better email using social engineering to trick and profit economically or less or in some individuals derive satisfaction from the gullibility of others. Doing so it damages the good people who rely on the Internet and really need your help!

The Disney / Bill Gates Email Hoax

If you read below you will see the note from Walt Disney Jr. & Management at Disney World. Basically if this messages reaches 13,000 people, everyone will receive $5,000.00 or a free, all expenses paid, trip to Disney >World in anytime during the summer of 1999. See the note below – its worth it!!!! Everyone is to resend to 15 individuals. Please read and forward to as many friends as possible…we’ve checked up on this and this is no joke of a chain letter or something if this reaches 13,000 people…duplicate entries don’t count, though…So, please help & pass on… thank you, and here you go!!!

The “The Bill Gates / Windows 98” Hoax! Hello Everyone, And thank you for signing up for my Beta Email Tracking Application or (BETA) for short. My name is Bill Gates. Here at Microsoft we have just compiled an e-mail tracing program that tracks everyone to whom this message is forwarded to. It does this through an unique IP (Internet Protocol) address log book database. We are experimenting with this and need your help. Forward this to everyone you know and if it reaches 1000 people everyone on the list you will receive $1000 and a copy of Windows98 at my expense. Enjoy. Note: Duplicate entries will not be counted. You will be notified by email with further instructions once this email has reached 1000 people. Windows98 will not be shipped until it has been released to the general public. Your friend, Bill Gates & The Microsoft Development Team. The classic forward this to “all your friends” is present above as a red flag indicating this is a hoax. This hoax has (I suppose) gotten wider distribution than normal since people would like to believe that Bill Gates might send them $1000 and a copy of Windows 98.

Chain Letter Virus Hoax Warning The “Chain Letter ” Virus Hoax! “This is not a joke…if you do not forward this e-mail to 20 other people………………… your computer will be a living hell thanks to one of our very own little ingenus viruses. I repeat this is not a joke this virus wil come to you only a week after you open this piece of mail in a very undiscreet e-mail If you open this e-mail after opening others, it just might come as a letter from your “buddy” No, this isn’t a “joke” but it’s certainly a hoax. If you have been reading our hoax page, you will notice the characteristic request to forward the hoax to others. This is also has the poor spelling that is found in many such juvenile messages (e.g., ingenus, undiscreet). Watch out! You have one week..starting now. If this virus gets in it won’t come back out. It will slowly delete 1 file a day from system IRQ files, startup files and win 95 kernels for registery address {1593338-489h985} Thank you for your time……. #:) hahahahaha SCREW YOU!!! With the “hahahaha” and the “SCREW YOU!!!!” text, I would not have expected people to respond to this hoax but we have received copies of this that indicate quite a large number of people have followed the instructions in the hoax. Just as people continue to respond to paper mail chain letters, they seem gullible enough to respond to this hoax. Fortunately, this hoax doesn’t make supernatural claims (“bad luck”) but simply makes claims that are impossible (being infected by a non-existent virus if you don’t forward the hoax) so there’s no reason to even think about complying this chain letter email hoax. r>

The “Win a Holiday” Hoax!

The “Win a Holiday” Hoax! VIRUS WARNING !!!!!! If you receive an email titled “WIN A HOLIDAY” DO NOT open it. Typical signs of a hoax here: It will erase everything on your hard drive. Forward this letter out to as many people as you can. and above we see the other classic hoax indication (to forward the hoax to as many people as you can. This is a new, very malicious virus and not many people know about it. This information was announced yesterday morning from Microsoft; A “new” virus would be no big deal. We see over 250 new viruses each month. MicroSoft is not in the business of announcing viruses. please share it with everyone that might access the internet. Once again, pass this along to EVERYONE in our address book so that this may be stopped. Also, do not open or even look at any mail that says “RETURNED OR UNABLE TO DELIVER” The “RETURNED OR UNABLE TO DELIVER” is copied from other hoaxes that we have covered here and it is intended to make people think they have seen the supposed virus message because almost everyone that sends much email will occasionally get a “RETURNED OR UNABLE TO DELIVER” when there is a problem delivering a message. (This should be no cause for alarm!) This virus will attach itself to your computer components and render them useless. Immediately delete any mail items that say this. AOL has said that this is a very dangerous virus and that there is NO remedy this to all your online friends ASAP. Ahhh, another appeal to authority (AOL) and, of course, unverifiable. And we are expected to believe that AOL is an authority on viruses?! And we see yet another exhortation to send this hoax to all our friends.
