Bomb hoax creates panic in Ankleshwar

SURAT: Some miscreants put a packet wrapped with adhesive tape along with a timer on it at GIDC shopping centre near Manav Mandir area in Ankleshwar on Thursday. Mistaking it to be a bomb, Bharuch police and the dog squad was called.

Senior police officials rushed to the spot and cordoned entire area. But, after examining the police found it to be a box filled with sweets. Bharuch SP, Subhash Trivedi carried the packet to the police station and found sweets in the box. Trivedi later told mediapersons, “We would give our best to catch such prankster who tried to disturb the peace in the region.”

Bogus Tokio Hotel star charged with Internet sex hoax

PERPIGNAN – A French youth has been charged with posing online as the star of teen rock band Tokio Hotel to trick young girls into sending him nude photos, police said Friday.

The 18-year-old from southwestern France signed up to a string of online chatrooms mascarading as Tokio Hotel singer and teen heartthrob Bill Kaulitz, striking up relations with young girls aged from 11 to 17.

He convinced several to send him nude photographs, some sexually explicit, which he went on to publish on the Internet.

He was arrested on Tuesday and is to stand trial in the southwestern city of Perpignan, police said.

The German pop group Tokio Hotel released their first album in May 2006 and quickly became a major success in Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland.

(ANSA) – PECHINO, 1 AGO – Il comitato promotore delle Olimpiadi di Pechino garantira’ pieno accesso a Internet, senza censure, da parte dei giornalisti accreditati. Il comitato organizzatore cinese, ha detto un portavoce, ‘manterra’ le promesse fatte al tempo della candidatura per aiutare i media ad informare a proposito dei Giochi con buoni strumenti e servizi di prim’ordine’. Portavoce del Bocog avevano confermato che solo i siti legati alla setta religiosa del Falun Gong sono bloccati perche’ ‘illegali’ in Cina.

MILANO – Cinquecento milion di euro. È?la cifra che Mediaset chiede a Google e YouTube «per illecita diffusione e sfruttamento commerciale di file audio-video di proprietà delle società del gruppo».
LA CITAZIONE – I legali di Mediaset hanno depositato presso il tribunale Civile di Roma un atto di citazione nei confronti dei due giganti americani di internet.

I NUMERI – Secondo quanto riferito da Mediaset «alla data del 10 giugno 2008, dalla rilevazione a campione effettuata da Mediaset sono stati infatti individuati sul sito YouTube almeno 4.643 filmati di nostra proprietà, pari a oltre 325 ore di materiale emesso senza possedere i diritti. Alla luce dei contatti rilevati e vista la quantità dei documenti presenti illecitamente sul sito – prosegue la nota – è possibile stabilire che le tre reti televisive italiane del gruppo abbiano perduto ben 315.672 giornate di visione da parte dei telespettatori». Ai 500 milioni di euro per il danno emergente, precisa Mediaset, «bisognerà aggiungere le perdite subite per la mancata vendita di spazi pubblicitari sui programmi illecitamente diffusi in rete».

“Not counting advertising”. Italian TV group estimates 315,672 viewing days lost.

MILAN – Five hundred million euros is the figure demanded by Mediaset from Google and YouTube “for the unauthorised distribution and commercial exploitation of audio and video files owned by group companies”.

LEGAL ACTION – Mediaset lawyers have filed a summons against the two American internet giants at the civil court in Rome.

FIGURES – According to the Italian media group, “as of 10 June 2008, from sample-based surveys carried out by Mediaset, at least 4,363 films owned by our group have been identified on YouTube, equivalent to more than 325 hours of material broadcast without viewing rights. On the basis of the hits recorded, and in view of the number of files present on the site without authorisation, it can be ascertained that the group’s three Italian networks have lost 315,672 television viewing days”. The Mediaset note points out that to the 500 million euros of consequential damages “should be added losses deriving from lost sales of advertising space on programmes broadcast the web without authorisation”.
